A CEREC Dentist is Revolutionizing Dental Appointments

CEREC DentistAs a CEREC dentist, we are performing procedures that are the next step in the ever-evolving science of dentistry. For years, people have been getting their teeth replacements and crowns much the same way. Long waits and repeated trips to the dentist’s office were the norm when getting a restoration, which is perhaps one of the reasons why many people simply avoided replacing a crown when it was necessary. On the other hand, CEREC dentistry has opened to door to endless options, even among people who are extremely busy. The reason is simple; we specialize in a one visit solution that has you in and out with a new crown in one day.

In our office, technology has caught up with medical science. Instead of having to fill your mouth with putty to get an impression, we can now use the latest scanning technology to get a perfect digital image. Instead of having to send out your impressions to the lab, and have you return weeks later for a fitting, we can turn the impressions into crowns while you peruse the latest office magazine. Even more amazing, we can actually fit your replacement teeth while you are in the office and make the necessary modifications to ensure that you have the restoration you need before you ever walk out of the door. So how exactly does this all work?

Your trip to the dentist typically begins with a tooth injury, often due to an accident or sports. Erosion and gum disease can also lead to you needing to get a tooth restored. When you get to our CEREC dentist office, however, is where the change begins. For starters, it is important to understand that we are  dentists first and will perform every one of the same procedures that other dentists can. The difference is that if, on examination, it is determined that you need a new crown we will proceed in taking the measurements we need using this new process. In a traditional setting, this would involve taking an impression of your mouth, and having you sit while the impression forms. Anyone who has been through this knows that this can be uncomfortable. At our clinic, you will be given a number of scans that are done digitally. These scans use machines like a visible light scanner, a CT scanner, and a digital radiography machine to get a perfect impression of your tooth.

This digital impression is then fed into a CNC (computer numerical machine) which is a device that takes the computer generated image and turns it into a perfect 3D likeness. We also use 3D printers to create a perfectly shaped crown. All of this takes place while you are still in our office and immediately after creating the new crown, we will start the process of attaching it and making any minor modifications that may be needed to ensure that it fits perfectly.  As a CEREC dentist, we can complete all of this in one visit with stunning results.
