Cosmetic Dentistry Can Brighten Your Smile and Keep it Healthy

Modern dental technology has made it possible for cosmetic dentistry to provide restorative solutions that are now more attractive than ever.  Previously if a dentist wanted to save a tooth there were few options for doing so, which left a lot of people with a mouth full of metal fillings.  While it is a better option than having a tooth pulled, it did nothing for someone’s appearance.  Fortunately, times have changed and a new type of dentistry has emerged.

People can now have the best of both worlds.  They can receive superior dental care and have a beautiful smile created at their local dentist office.  Dr. Scott Gordon is an expert at transforming his patients’ smiles and does so with an expert hand and attention to detail.

Cosmetic dentistry goes beyond the appearance of the tooth and will actually help to keep teeth strong and healthy.  For example, a cosmetic dentist can restore a chipped tooth, treat a cavity, perform a root canal, and more.  These are more commonly known as procedures that a general dentist would perform, but Dr. Gordon can do it all.

Here are some of the ways that Dr. Gordon can treat a tooth while also improving its appearance.

Dental veneers:  This is an ideal solution for teeth that have become cracked, chipped, or broken.  A veneer is a shell that is placed on the front of the tooth.  It is created in a dental lab and is matched in size, shape, and color to the surrounding teeth.  It is placed on the front of your existing tooth so no surgery or teeth pulling is involved.

Dental crowns:  There are several types of dental crowns that include all-metal, all-ceramic, and metal-on-ceramic.  A cosmetic dentist can use either one of the ceramic options to place a crown that blends in with the surrounding teeth so that no one will notice dental work has been performed. A crown is a cap that fits snuggly on top of your tooth and is commonly used after a root canal in order to strengthen the tooth.

Composite dental fillings: If you have metal fillings, Dr. Gordon can replace them with composite ones so that no one can see the metal when you smile. The fillings look completely natural and can be used for new ones or replacements.

Dental bridges:  For someone who has lost a tooth, a dental bridge is a non-surgical option for replacing it.  A bridge is created using a crown on each side for stability.  The new tooth is attached to the bridge in the center of the two crowns.  The result is a durable and beautiful solution for replacing a missing tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry has improved greatly and has made it possible for a dentist and patients to select what type of procedure works best for each solution, rather than being stuck with a one size fits all option.  Now patients can have a gorgeous and healthy smile, courtesy of their local cosmetic dentist, Dr. Scott Gordon.
