Learn Why a Veneers Dentist Restores So Many Teeth

Veneers DentistAs a veneers dentist, we use this innovative procedure for restoring damaged teeth.  Dental veneers are an incredibly simple devices that are used to repair a number of problems that can occur with your teeth. From a dentist's perspective, they perform two very important functions. First we can use them to prevent the damaged in teeth from spreading or becoming worse. This is good because damaged teeth can lead to infections, and dental veneers can help prevent this as well. The second function that they perform is an esthetic one. Using veneers to repair teeth, means the teeth will look and feel exactly like your natural teeth. This will automatically improve your smile, giving you more confidence.

In order to make sure that there is no difference between a tooth that has a veneer and one that doesn't, we will shave away a small portion of the enamel and place the veneer flush with the rest of your teeth. This step is critical, and afterward you will wear a temporary veneer while a new one is being created in the lab.  Once placed, even you will forget where the veneer is located.

Dental veneers are designed to make teeth look and feel like the real thing. To do this, they closely mimic some of the characteristics of enamel. This is an important fact to remember because you will need to treat your veneers the same way as you would treat your natural teeth. Enamel and dental veneers are very hard which is good for the rigors of the daily diet. At the same time dental veneers, just like enamel, tend to be brittle. This means that you can damage it, so you will need to make sure not to do things that place your teeth at risk. As a veneers dentist, we can give you a full list of things that you should not do, such as chewing on a pencil.

Given that dental veneers are less expensive than some of the other methods of repairing teeth, there is no wonder that they have been growing in popularity. As people seek to have a better smile, and healthy teeth, porcelain veneers have become more prevalent. Still, many of our patients want to know if their life will be impacted in some way by getting veneers and how long this treatment will last. Typically veneers will have no negative affect on your life. They require no additional steps to keep clean or maintain. Once installed there are no further steps to take unless the veneer chips and needs to be repaired. The only warning that we give all our patients is to be careful with foods that can stain the teeth around your veneers, since your veneers cannot change color. If you eat too many of these foods, the teeth around your veneers will become stained while your dental veneers stay the same.

As far as life cycle goes, if a dental veneer is taken care of in a proper manner, they can last anywhere from seven to thirty years. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict the exact timeframe, as the veneers are tied to the mouth itself. Diseases, accidents, and even a failure to take care of your teeth can change the longevity of your veneers. The good news is that if you do take the time to care for them, they will last a very long time. As a veneers dentist, we can help all of your teeth to last and remain healthy with regular dental cleanings.
