Three Things That Signify Dental Implants Are Right for You

As a cosmetic dentist, we have more than one way to replace a lost tooth. While dentures are the most traditional option and still reliable, there are inconveniences that come from wearing dentures that do not apply toward dental implants. This makes them an incredibly popular option among our patients. Placing implants involves oral surgery, so it is more invasive than wearing dentures, but that is what makes them so durable. If you elect to get dental implants, we will provide you with sedation so the procedure will be entirely comfortable. Here are a few signs that this is the right procedure for you:

  1. You want a hassle-free smile. Dental implants are the most convenient way to replace teeth and the most hassle-free solution. This is because they do not require any additional maintenance. You simply need to brush and floss your teeth throughout the day and receive ongoing dental care. You can eat all of your favorite foods without worrying about your teeth. The only thing you must do is try to protect your implants, just like you would your natural teeth. That means wearing a night guard if you grind or clench your teeth, wearing a mouthguard if you play sports, and not using your teeth for anything other than eating regular foods (i.e. don't chew on pencils or eat ice).

  2. You want to be confident in your appearance. If you are looking for teeth replacements that look natural, implants are an ideal solution. We can restore the teeth you are missing and ensure they blend in with the surrounding ones. This is done by taking an impression of your mouth and measurements, along with looking at a shade card. This information will then be sent to the dental lab so the crown portion of your implants can be created. Once placed, it will look so natural, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to tell which teeth are natural and which ones have been replaced with implants. As a cosmetic dentist, this is what we strive for – restorations that look entirely natural.

  3. You want a durable replacement solution. Implants are the most durable way to replace a missing tooth because we insert a metal post under the gums and secure it to the jawbone. Over the next couple of months, the titanium and bone will fuse together through the process of osseointegration. As a result, the titanium implant will provide stimulation to the jawbone and the jawbone will provide stability to the new tooth, just like it would a natural one. This makes it possible to engage in high-impact activities like running a marathon without worrying about your new tooth becoming loose like you would if you were wearing dentures. You can eat all your favorite foods without fretting about your teeth, as well. For true durability, implants are your best bet.

As a cosmetic dentist, we can review all your options with you and help you decide what the best tooth replacement is for your needs. If you want a durable and beautiful smile, dental implants are an excellent solution.
